Tommy Weldy, Pastor

I am so happy you want to learn more about Brookwood Baptist Church (BBC).  I am Pastor Tommy Weldy. I was born and raised right here in Forsyth County and grew up at Bethlehem Baptist Church, not too far from Brookwood.  That is where I accepted Jesus as my savior!  My beautiful wife of 30 years, Anita, along with my two children Ashlee and Mason and I were called to BBC in 2019.  I also am blessed to have my son-in-law Caleb Fagan (married to Ashlee) and my soon to be born grandson, Silas, as a part of my flock here at BBC.  Prior to serving at BBC, I was Pastor of two other churches in the Hightower Baptist Association (HBA).  I currently serve as the Chairman of the executive committee of the HBA.

It has been an honor to serve this congregation and community these past few years.  My desire is that every person who enters the doors of BBC feels welcome and free to worship in the spirit of Christ. I always like to say we are a small congregation, but we do big things and we love big.  If you are looking for a church home, I encourage you to join us for any of our services and/or activities.  I would be honored to have you.

Pastor Tommy's Blog:

I just want to talk about Church for a minute.  What is Church to you?  Secular definitions basically define Church as a building used for Christian worship.  I say Church is so much more and is so much more important than just brick and mortar.  Jesus called the Church his bride.  He cared enough to send letters in Revelations to the Churches to help correct and encourage.  So, with that said if it was important to Jesus wouldn’t you agree that it should be important to us?Church should be a place where we can worship and grow.  A place where we should “get” to go and not “have” to go.  A place where you’re missed when you’re not there, not because of simple attendance but out of genuine concern & love.  Church to me is family and I am thankful to have Brookwood as family.Brookwood is a special place that stands on the Bible, (the Holy Word of God), where the Gospel of Jesus Christ is taught, sung and preached.  Where the love of Christ is on display in the actions of the people, from the welcoming and loving on our visitors & members week to week to sponsoring and encouraging Calvary International (Indian Congregation) & Ever Love (Korean Congregation).  All examples of a small church doing big things.  Brookwood knows how to love loud!      I realize we are not a perfect church and we have room to grow, in number and we all have room to grow in spirit but I am thankful we serve one who is perfect and when we get down to it, he still loves us, imperfections & all, enough to call us his bride.
